June Update

It’s been a busy few months! Some lucky breaks in the weather and our hard working crew have made our spring and summer planting a huge success! We’re feeling really good about our early season crops and happy to have the farm set up for whatever the summer may bring. Tomatoes, peppers and eggplants are planted, onions and early greens are growing great. We hope you are enjoying your first few shares as much as it is a joy to harvest for them. And now that we are in our harvest season it’s already time to start thinking about our fall crops. The seedling greenhouse is empty for only a couple weeks before we begin starting plants for fall harvest. Farming is quite a balance between taking care of what’s in the present and working toward future harvests at the same time.

And speaking of the future…while we have been busy in the fields we have also been working towards a new project on the farm. If you haven’t heard we applied for a zoning variance in order to convert a small ranch house at the farm into a farm kitchen and CSA pickup. We have always wanted a space where people can gather to come enjoy what we grow and since January we have been working to get permission from the Township to build a public space on the farm. We have finally received a positive decision and we will be starting renovations as soon as we can! This space will have some seasonal cooking classes, farm to table dinners, apertivo tastings, CSA pickup and a pick-your-own garden - we can’t wait to host you there!

If you would like to try our aperitivo feel free to purchase one through the website and we will put it in your CSA box! We had a wonderful crew of volunteers and CSA members come help weed our aperitivo herb patch last week and it was a huge success! Look out via email for more volunteer opportunities through out the season - we love having you visit the farm and participate in what we do here. Order here:
