BONUS!
Well, since we haven’t gotten a big freeze and our country hasn’t yet exploded from this insane election we’d like to offer one last vegetable hurrah to you, our wonderful members. We’ve been working really hard to clean up the fields, prep the farm for winter, plant garlic and get the last of the veggies out of the ground. Like I said, we still have a little bit left and some in storage that we would love to offer you this week. Here are the details (it’s in your email too). For this week veggies will be available more like a farmer's market, as in there will be an inventory for each item. Unlike the CSA where we make sure that every item is available for every member to order, this is a more first come first serve type system.
Thank you so much to everyone who responded to our survey and google form. All your feedback is super helpful. This week, responding to feedback from the member survey we will start being a little more descriptive for each item as much as we can so that you get a little better idea of what to expect (such as smaller leaves or larger, big beets or small etc.). Some items we don't really know what they will be like until we pick them on harvest day but we will do our best to communicate what to expect before members order.
Orders this week will be a minimum of 5 items, all a la carte.
P.S. A note about broccoli: we are also very sad about our broccoli crop this year. It came in very late (despite mostly being planted on time and fertilized well) and then once it finally matured to a harvestable size it rained for 3 days straight and formed a black rot on almost all the heads. We lost almost every head which is what we would call a complete crop failure. That’s what happens in farming sometimes, but we wanted to let you know.
Scenes from the farm: the last of the peppers, oranges on a gray day, cover crop and blue sky, weeding the winter lettuce on a rainy day.
