The Winter Times

Farmers always get asked what they do in the winter time. It's a perfectly reasonable question, for what could be done without plants growing, vegetables to plant, pick, weed and sell? Quite simply, winter is filled with all of the things that we don't have time to do when we're caring for plants. Building, fixing, cleaning, accounting and planning.  Yes, we get to stay in a bed a little longer, we enjoy shorter days and more time with friends. We work other jobs, indoor jobs. And in between the holiday craziness, we crack open the seed catalogs and start to dream about next season.

But this winter we feel lucky that we get to stay grounded at the farm as our projects continue and our Winter CSA begins. We can work on building infrastructure and keep connections with our community. So, we'll be hibernating a little bit...but not too much.

We're so excited to start distributing our storage crops! We're also pretty psyched to be able to pick some things from the field for the first share! It may not be the prettiest head of pac choi but kissed by frost, it sure is the sweetest.

The 1st share!

Recipes will be provided at each CSA Pickup by Chef Ian Knauer of the Farm Cooking School and then posted to our website. We're really excited to be working with Ian and Geraldine and we can't wait to see what suggestions they have for us!
