About Us
The Farm
It all starts in the fields. Nestled in the heart of Bucks County, PA, we are dedicated to sustainable, organic farming and celebrated for growing vibrant, high-quality vegetables. Established in 2013 as New Hope’s first CSA farm, we supply fresh produce to our CSA members, local restaurants, for our cooking classes and dinners, and at our weekly Wednesday market. Radicchio, fennel, and herbs are the key ingredients in our Amara Aperitivo.
We believe that good farming is a public service. We want to provide a product that is of the highest quality, the most nutritious, beautiful and affordable while also offering a connection between consumers and the farm.
In addition to being certified organic, we utilize resilient agricultural techniques such as reduced-tillage, intensive cover cropping, integrated pest management, occultation, contour tillage and organic compost applications to nurture the soil and ecology of our farm and the people who work here.
Malaika & Ian
The Farmer and the Chef
Our farm and Amara Kitchen & Tasting Room are run by husband-and-wife team Farmer Malaika Spencer and Chef Ian Knauer. With a degree in sustainable agriculture and years of farming across the globe, Malaika brings deep expertise in organic, regenerative vegetable production. Ian developed his craft during nearly a decade in the world-renowned test kitchens of Gourmet Magazine before returning to his family’s farm in Pennsylvania. There, he authored the cookbook The Farm: Rustic Recipes for a Year of Incredible Food and created the series The Farm, available on PBS and Amazon Prime.
Our farm is full of people with amazing talents whose big hearts and strong backs grace the land every season, you can meet the whole team here.
Amara Kitchen & Tasting Room
Just steps from the farm fields is our newly opened Amara Kitchen & Tasting Room (also called “the Kitchen”), a welcoming space where Chef Ian leads cooking classes and hosts farm-to-table dinners, CSA members pick up their produce, and everyone can visit during our Wednesday markets. We also craft our Amara Apertivo here. The Kitchen brings the community together to learn, connect, and enjoy meals centered on the farm’s own harvest.
